I am challenged. I came from an Insurance company, a local company as well. I graduated realizing that I want to help my country by being hired by local companies. Abroad was never an option to me, so far. Then opportunity came when I was walking at Ever Gotesco Mall Ortigas, I saw a job opening posted at ***
I started at ***, Inc last June 15, 2010 as a Product Sales Officer(Local Market) in Sales and Marketing Department. I was enlightened by our Manager about the company's background which made me more interested to continue my career here. I also noticed that aside from being a medium sized company it did not became a hindrance to offer products and services to big time companies. My job description was explained along with the products that I sell and at the same time the things that I could encounter from clients. Everything was a fast break, I felt the urgency of things that I have to learn. My team mates or the rest of the Sales and Marketing people was introduced as well. I was endorsed to Sir John, my counterpart and the sales officer who used to handle the products that I sell right now. The month of June was under his full guidance and support. I was fascinated how he handled too much products before I came in.
I get to enjoy my job from selling Electronic Basketball Scoreboards as a basketball player way back high school and college. Biking was also one of my favorite leisure, so I had no problems in studying the specifications of the product. Every product I handle is interesting and absolutely tangible compared to insurance. My job seemed to be more exciting working with wonderful people at my age or close to my age. Plus I am also enjoying the privilege of using IX System wherein I believe everything should be efficient and effective.
The real job began when the month of July came. I got to hold every account Sir John had. Every movement I had was under his supervision. He patiently taught me how to serve his previous clients. Although there were some things that wasn't relayed to me due to the fact that Sir John is too busy handling a much harder product which is the EVO3. However, I am still lucky enough not to handle EVO3.
I had a hard time understanding customized projects. I really have to interact with the engineering people in the Engineering Department. Going to the Engineering Department is one dreadful feeling for me as I had to explain what I know about the concept of the project to the logical and technical skilled engineers. With this I should not limit myself in communicating with other departments. Still I am managing to be inquisitive about their duties on the project to be quoted so that I could answer at least some of the specifications of the project to customers.
In continuation I also had a hard time with the MIG department. Specifically on their way of forecasting products or supplies. How can I sell if I have no stock? So here comes delay and partial deliveries to mad and demanding customers. Aside from that there was a time that I wasn't able to deliver scoreboards on time. Which put me into a difficult position as a sales officer as I had to make emergency pull – outs from outlets in order to cater my commitments to customers. So from that lesson I learned how to follow up and coordinate my orders at any MIG personnel so that such errors do not happen again.
On the other hand my primary goal to end the year is to improve on my communication skills. It would be nice if I could convince more people to buy *** products and at the same time I can effectively suffice my clients needs with my confidence in communicating. Second, stress management. I admit I am a perfectionist, I would like to perform well in any way I can. I need to focus on working effectively and efficiently so that I couldn't bring any work-aches at home. This would also eliminate the absences or tardiness at work.
All in all, I conclude that I am doing good in improving myself. I believe I am in a strong team, with a strong captain and team mates. Everything will be possible if I put extra effort and training.
